About this Device

Mac SE case with Raspberry Pi 4 (model b) internals. USB and Ethernet accessible via expansion port. 12v power input on back for powering 12v LCD, and buck converter to provide 5v to Pi.

Historical Notes

The SE added two things the original compact Mac desperately needed: an expansion slot and a fan. The fan meant you could run it all day without the case reaching dangerous temperatures. The PDS expansion slot meant you could add an accelerator, a second CPU, or a hard disk controller. These small additions opened the compact Mac to serious professional use for the first time. This modern recreation packs in a Raspberry Pi running System 7 in emulation, on an iPad 1 screen in color.
