The Xserve (Early 2008) represented one of the most mature versions of Apple’s rack-mounted server line, updating the platform with Intel “Harpertown” Xeon processors in quad-core and eight-core configurations for more serious enterprise and data-center use. It stands near the end of Apple’s dedicated server-hardware era, making it especially interesting to collectors as a reminder of the period when Apple was still trying to compete directly in professional rack-server infrastructure before the Xserve line was discontinued a few years later.
